The
EUBO Development Trust is an independent charity that aims to raise money
to develop resources and areas of activity that we are not able to finance
with the funding we receive from the European Union and Microsoft Europe.
The Trust's
current target is to raise money towards the production of a CD which
features works by JP Rameau, JJ Fux and JS Bach. The recording took place
in St Michael's Church, Oxford, in early December 2007 and will be released
in 2008.
The Trust's further target is to fund bursaries to enable students, especially
those from the 10 new EU Enlargement countries, to participate in future
EUBO auditions and activities.
The
first major challenge of the Development Trust, to purchase a pair of
new single manual Italian harpsichords, has been achieved successfully
during 2007.
TRAVEL
& STUDY BURSARIES
EUBO Development
Trust gave over 30 awards in 2007 to enable young musicians to enjoy the
opportunities offered by the EUBO. The majority of awards were made
to subsidise travel costs for students to attend the 2007 Audition Courses.
WHO
GIVES TO THE TRUST?
Donors
to the Trust come from all sorts of backgrounds. Some are old friends
or former members or employees of the Orchestra; others have heard us
in concert somewhere in the world or have come to know EUBO’s work
through our recordings. What unites them is an interest in sustaining
and developing the unique tradition of baroque music, our shared European
heritage.
To accommodate all abilities to give, we have designed a three-tier membership
scheme: Chaconne, Overture
and Sinfonia. You can join the Chaconne scheme
for as little as GBP10 or €15 per month, while membership of the Sinfonia
scheme comes with the added pleasure of knowing that you have bought one
key of the Orchestra’s new harpsichords!
When EUBO first started, there was no formal training opportunity for
gifted young students of baroque music. 20 years on, while the situation
has improved, the EUBO remains unique in the opportunities it offers to
young musicians. The success we have achieved since 1985 is reflected
in the fact that there is now no serious professional baroque ensemble
in the world that does not include at least one former EUBO member.
By making a donation to the EUBO Development Trust, you can be certain
that you are playing a significant role in helping us continue our vital
work. To find out more about how you can give, please contact Jose Phillips
